Drool Announce Junkyard Single

Another new cut from the fast rising London four piece, ‘Junkyard’ is as brutal and brash as it is melodic and mesmeric. Harnessing dichotomous thrills to arresting effect ‘Junkyard’ sees Drool extract the crunching core components of Pixies, Nirvana and Soundgarden and upcycle them for the 21st Century with their own fresh sonic sensibilities. From its loping, low slung beginnings to the sprawling wall of noise and cut-glass guitar breaks that haul it to a crashing crescendo, ‘Junkyard’ hits home like an unstoppable musical juggernaut.

Based around a real-life antagonistic exchange between two friends, the song lures the listener into the unsettling and claustrophobic confines of a scrap metal yard where their argument begins to heat-up. Speaking about the track, the band’s frontman Joey Rogers says: “The song's a conversation between two people. One asking for help and the other who’s unwilling to listen. It’s based on a conversation I had with a friend. I liked the imagery of someone being inside a graveyard of old cars and appliances being cast aside and left to rot.”

The follow-up to the band’s 2019 single ‘Fun’, ’Junkyard’ will feature on a new EP release slated for May 2019. Recorded between London’s RAK, Bayham and Polestar studios, ‘Junkyard’ was produced by Chris Gepp & Anders Källmark and finessed by Richard Beetham for 360 Mastering.

Comprised of Joey Rogers (vox/guitar), Martin Söderin (drums), Joe Bennison (bass) and Louis Greenway (guitar), Drool employ a palette of pummelling drum beats and discordant guitars to create a sound with the sky-scraping prowess of the ‘90s grunge era and the wily spirit of ‘60s garage-pop records. Already making a name for themselves an explosively exciting live act, the band are already earmarked as one of the unmissable acts of this year’s Camden Rocks Festival in June.
