Girls Rock Dublin Launch Party

The Girls Rock camp launch will be celebrated with a fundraiser gig in The Grand Social, Dublin Friday 24th March. Special guests performing on the night are Æ MAK, Alien She, Susie-Blue, and Extravision. Girls Rock Dublin invite you to celebrate the launch of our first rock camp for girls...with a big party, and free Girls Rock Dublin tote-bags for the first 30 people to arrive. Tickets are €10 and all proceeds from the night will go towards funding our first Girls Rock summer camp for girls who want to be in a band and rock out.
Girls Rock Camps come to Dublin from 27th June to 1st July 2017 at the Sound Training College & Temple Lane Rehearsal Studios. New non-profit group Girls Rock Dublin will run the first Rock Camp for girls in Dublin this Summer. Camps provide a positive, non-competitive environment where 20 campers, aged 18-24, will learn to express themselves through a unique programme that combines music tuition, collaborative workshops and a refreshing DIY spirit.

Girls Rock Dublin (GRD) are part of a movement of rock camps (Girls Rock) started in Portland, Oregon, in 2001 and now in more than 100 cities worldwide. Driven by the desire to achieve gender equality in the music industry, Girls Rock helps women and girls build self-esteem and find their voices through collaboration in a fun, inclusive environment. Music is the means through which the movement seeks to create a positive impact at both a personal and community level.
Run by an all-woman team, coaches and volunteers include musicians active in the local independent music scene (Fierce Mild, Naoise Roo, Maija Sofia and more). In line with the global movement’s ethos and mission, GRD value diversity: applicants from socially underrepresented groups are welcome. Two scholarships will be granted to applicants with low income. Future camps and events for younger and older women are currently being planned. Applications will open at the end of April 2017.
