Los Bengala - Incluso Festivos

Easy tiger. It looks like they not only have a tiger in their tanks, but also in their pants ;)

In the short time that this band have been together, around 18 months or so, they have recorded this their debut LP.

Found in a London dive bar, and then going on to play a sold out Dirty Water Club a few months later, they went down a storm. This Spanish duo consist of Guillermo Sinnerman (guitar and vox) and Borja Téllez (drums and vox).

There is a very strong Latino flavour running throughout the LP, tracks that wouldn’t sound out of place in a Tarantino movie. Its wild, it’s primitive, and recorded with a live sound.

Taking a quote from the press release “If we stop we’re dead – and we very much like being alive. Life is short and we intend to make the most of it. We never stop playing. We’re a live band. With sweat and intensity. And the record you’ll soon be holding in your hand will show that.” I love that sentiment; that, and the LP cover – a pair or ripped tiger pants hanging on the washing line, it kinda says it all. I just knew that I was going to love this record.

The opening track has a primitive hypnotic beat, and lays down the gauntlet for the rest of the LP. I'm full of anticipation at what will follow.

We are treated to tracks like 'Aaah' – a ferocious mentalist fuzz attack. 'Atoco' – pure garage punk, and 'Perfect Body' – a Bluesy Punk Latino hybrid, with pounding drums.

There is something quite gritty about the Latino numbers, they’re so manly I can almost smell the pheromones. I get the impression that they aren't simply just singing and playing, it's their whole being that's involved - blood, sweat and guts, and they are right here on this LP. and it hits all the right spots. I feel quite ravaged by the end of it, and need a lie down!

My recommendation is, go and buy it. I’ve heard that their live shows are phenomenal, and really hope to catch the boys playing in the UK this year.

14 tracks, 28 mins. In the words of the late, great Lemmy Kilmister “That’s the way I like it baby, I don’t want to live forever”…
