Festival News : Roskilde

  • Written by  Danielle Gibson

If you’re heading to the Roskilde Festival this June/July you are in for an amazing time with metal giants Metallica playing their only European show there. It’s their first appearance at the festival in 10 years. So if you don’t have tickets yet and you’ll just die if you don’t get to see them get those laptops/phones out or you might just miss this amazing show.

Also joining Metallica at Roskilde are headliners Kraftwerk, The National, Rihanna, Queens of the Stone Age, Sigur Ros, Slipknot and Volbeat.

"We listen to our audience, and this year they have been shouting for a large name to complete our high-quality, forward-thinking, broad music programme. Very few names of this kind are on tour, so we have had to think outside the box and are obviously thrilled to welcome back Lars Ulrich and his crew much earlier than expected,” says director of Music & Creation Rikke Øxner.  Metallica were not anticipated for the festival this year but Roskilde have managed to secure an exclusive one-off show with a band that first dominated the event’s iconic Orange Stage way back in 1986.

Roskilde Festival takes place between the 29th June and the 7th of July in Roskilde, Denmark.

A full festival ticket costs DKK 1890 (approx £217) and these are sold through Billetlugen. For more information on Roskilde check out the festival's website.
