In celebration of the expanded 3-CD edition of the NME's era-defining C86 cassette, a special one off concert will take place this June.

The CD itself will be released this coming Monday (June 9) via Cherry Red Records as a tribute to the '80s sound that left a lasting impact on noisy and twee indie pop. The original cassette which was released back in 1986, contained 22 songs with bands such as The Pastels, Shop Assistants, Primal Scream, The Wedding Present and Half Man Half Biscuit. This new set will include two more discs of forgotten and unforgotten tunes, including tracks by BMX Bandits, Happy Mondays, The Turncoats and Jesus And Mary Chain.

The special one off gig to promote the release and further celebrate the musical legacy will take place on Saturday June 14 at 229 London. It will feature the likes of The Wedding Present, The Membranes, The Band Of Holy Joy, A Witness, Yeah Yeah Noh, The Wolfhounds, David Westlake (The Servants), The McTells and Des!gn playing the music of The Chesterf!elds.

You can buy tickets now via Eventim or the ticket hotline: 08442491000.
