Deer Tick Compile Mayonnaise

Mayonnaise by the beloved Rhode Island band Deer Tick is the new compilation album, and companion record, to last year’s Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.

Over the last year, the band have really jumped up a notch, releasing two records (Vol. 1 and Vol. 2) that showcased their two opposing sides. Vol. 1  made a play for dreamy, confessional folk-rooted acoustic guitars - described by Mojo as “raw, introspective and rootsy” - and Vol. 2was fierce garage-rock, described by Uncut as “high-class punk thrash.” Two opposite worlds collided there on a collection that Pitchfork said cemented lead singer John McCauley as “a modern-day barstool poet”, and went on to also find praise from NPR as a “a masterclass in newfound maturity.”

Having just completed a successful run of dates of the UK and Ireland, [http://musosguide.co.uk/component/k2/item/5363-deer-tick-whelans-dublin] and as they continue to tour extensively through Europe right now, it has been a particularly prolific and exciting time for the band. Lead singer John McCauley also recently joined the “Nirvana reunion” onstage with Foo Fighters, as they brought members of the band back together to play several hits.

Mayonnaise is due out on Partisan Records (John Grant, IDLES, Craig Finn, Cigarettes After Sex) in February and features original tracks, covers (George Harrison, The Pogues, Velvet Underground), and alternative versions.
