Contemporary Music At The Edinburgh International Festival 2018

The Edinburgh International Festival had it's programme launch in the city's McEwan Hall last night & contemporary music one again rubs shoulders with the dance, classical music, theatre etc. within it, albeit at the moment it's a tad thin on the ground, with much to be fully confirmed on May 2nd.

What is in the programme so far are appearances by John Grant (August 20, £25-£35) and St. Vincent (August 26, £25-£40) at the Edinburgh Playhouse

The criminally neglected Leith Theatre (a council asset left to rot) has been undergoing a resurrection over the last couple of years and that's now being recognised by the EIF as it will play host to Mogwai and what, from the general information available at time of writing, sounds like a nostalgia-heavy programme of Scottish bands. The Vaselines and The Pastels were mentioned but it's not 100% certain whether they'll play there or another venue.

Folk band LAU (a new one on me but apparently I should have heard of them) are also curating a few events.

Tickets go on sale on March 24 and can be obtained here. We'll keep you updated on the further announcements as they happen.
