Following a debut single on Hot Creations, London electronic producer Mineo teams up with elusive masked grime MC CASISDEAD for double A-side ‘Do It Again’ / ‘Woodblock’ on Black Butter.
Across the two sweltering cuts, Mineo’s deftly understated production collides with hypnotic bars from CASISDEAD to incendiary effect. First track ‘Do It Again’ sees the London MC and recent Tricky collaborator laying feverish mantras with possessed purpose over Mineo’s slyly bass-heavy backdrop. This moves seamlessly into the swampy tech-garage of ‘Woodblock’, where CASISDEAD’s vocals are chopped and cut with vinyl crackles and tom drums to create a rhythm that somehow nods casually towards Masters at Work dubs from the ‘90s.
