Geary – The Silent Watcher, The Mountain Is Woe

  • Written by  Will Simpson

Complexities of alchemical formulae make a perfect conjunction in Geary’sThe Silent Watcher, The Mountain Is Woe.

After many listens an album like this begins to grow roots deep into the unconscious underground, weaving in and out of impossible space and imaginary nothings. ‘Clocking Out’ really does clock you out of just what you are doing in that moment. Euphoric chorus and reverberating halls splashed with musical paint over and over again, reflecting the acoustic guitar strums that fills the foreground of an incredible mix of transcendence inducing piano melodies. The choice filling cups of ‘They Speak to Me in Sleep’ take place in that same ether in which the dreamscape flows like a river’s current; made up of dazzling sound waves; shimmering inside a make believe world that we all know can exist, if only somewhere.

Medieval times created guilds of trades and crafts that upheld virtues and solidarity for each and every member of the community; with the sounds of ecommerce smashing at the waves of time; medieval fades into obscurity, a relic of a golden past. Progress leads to the revolution, the eternal revolution

‘Mantras’ is a progressive happening as the slow pace and haunting guitars cut through a dark room with golden vertical beams reaching up high into the cosmos. ‘The Silent Watcher, The Mountain Is Woe’ crescendos high like a waterfall slowing down over the seasons, and then reinvigorating with flash flowing currents; invoking the country in one, the triumph of man’s mind in the next.

A heavy set said “I have filled my crowd with love”.

An artist said “I have filled my art with love”.

A mountain said “may my water flow with love”.

The silent watcher seeks the truth.

The crowd said “we want the truth”.

The music said “I am the truth”.

The water said “Ssssshh”.
