Empara Mi New Single Released
- Written by Marky Edison
Empara Mi has released her brand new single ‘WYGD’. The song is a dramatic statement of self-empowerment from the avant-garde artist and, utilising dark electronics to lay foundations for her powerful vocal, she addresses ownership of self-worth and breaking free from those who hold her back.
Regarding the single Empara Mi says, “One day I realised I was done. Done being the good girl with the bad guy. Done with putting myself in positions I wasn't proud of and doing things I knew weren't right. Done with knowing the only power I had was right after they'd make a mistake. Done with being told 'if you leave me…' Turns out I didn't need anyone to rescue me, I needed to rescue my damn self… And well, you did your worst, and I'm still here.”
‘WYGD’ is the latest in a string of intoxicating singles from Empara Mi in 2019 and follows ‘Ditch’, ‘Blood In The Water’ and ‘Crying’. The songs have seen her unite pop, hip-hop and R&B alongside her striking visual aesthetics to develop a distinct and unique identity.
2019 has seen the unfolding of Empara Mi’s dramatic, ambitious and emotional new musical direction. A collection of these tracks will be compiled on a soon-to-be-announced mini album, which will be released in early 2020, along with new material.
