Rat Boy Shares New DIY Video

Fresh from announcing the January release of his new album, Internationally Unknown, which he made with Tim Armstrong (Rancid / Transplants), Rat Boy shares a new video for its aggy street-punk opening track ‘Chip On My Shoulder’. The majority of the video captures skateboarding scenes and other footage that Rat Boy filmed in Los Angeles during breaks in the album’s recording sessions. It’s interwoven with a raw live performance in an empty farm warehouse back home in Essex.

With rapid-fire edits and a grainy, lo-fi aesthetic, the video captures the raw energy of Spike Jonze’s ‘Video Days’ and the experimentalism of Harmony Korine’s ‘Trash Humpers’. Rat Boy – aka Jordan Cardy – acted as director, editor and DOP on the video, which he shot with regular visual collaborator Thomas Davis, drummer Noah Booth and friend Jack Ogles.

With the help of punk/hip-hop crossover maestro Tim Armstrong, Internationally Unknown elevates Rat Boy’s rabble-rousing riot act to a new level. He’s drawing on diverse influences which echo, at various points, The Clash, Beastie Boys, The Prodigy, Rebel MC, Green Day and Run DMC.

Rat Boy is about to hit the road with The Dumb & Confused Tour. It will culminate with three themed London shows:
