Atlas Wynd Suffer Shellshock

Atlas Wynd (Peter Chapman, Harry Sotnick and Sam Evans) have unleashed new single ‘Shellshock’, taken from their forthcoming Liam Watson (The White Stripes) produced EP. Following April’s explosive cut, which premiered on Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show, ‘Helpless’ went on to become his BBC Introducing Tip Of The Week and picked up plays from 38 local shows, including BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson.

Swaggering guitars set the scene on ‘Shellshock’, with Toe Rag Studios’ analogue edge giving each distorted stab a boldness way beyond the band’s years. Having already made a solid impact on their growing scene, Atlas Wynd have recently launched their own music night in Brighton and are set to release their full EP later this year.

‘Shellshock’ has been a part of the band’s live repertoire for a while now, but this latest iteration sees the song taking on a much more refined arrangement. Written about the unnecessarily controversial opinion that people may still have good ‘reason and justification for their words and actions’ even though they appear to be outwardly different and difficult to understand, Peter’s powerful words encourage the listener to be a little more understanding. Following slots at Glastonbury, Great Escape, Y Not Festival and regular appearances at Brighton’s Green Door Store, Atlas Wynd have firmly established themselves as a promising name to look out for in the not too distant future.
