The Grey Merchant Enter The Anthropocene

The Grey Merchant announce the release their second album, The Claude Glass, on Friday. Recorded during the second half of 2019, the five-piece band based in Cork, present an eclectic mix of guitar-driven tracks exploring social and personal themes, with all five members contributing to the song-writing duties, and collaborations with Pete Mac (Paradox) and Kieran Ring (Neon Atlas).

Mixed by Ciarán O’Shea (Cyclefly, Bush) at Whitewell Studios Berlin, and mastered at Abbey Road Studios with Alex Wharton (Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, Chemical Brothers), The Claude Glass reflects diverse influences from Kyuss to John Grant to Public Service Broadcasting.

Their single ‘Anthropocene’ expands on the pop and indie tendencies of the group, packing melody and drama into their new track. The album goes on release this Friday, with the band celebrating the occasion with a rare live performance at Cork’s Crane Lane Theatre on March 2 at 11 pm.

Sheafs Debut EP On Blood Records

The first single from the highly anticipated debut EP from Sheffield's Sheafs on Blood Records (Dream Wife / The Blinders / The Amazons) has just been released.

The EP is produced by Tarek Musa from Spring King and the new single is 'Total Vanity'.

The whole EP has great hooks throughout matched with whip-sharp lyrics confronting the frustrations of a consumerist world that profits from people's low self-esteem and self-doubt. They're also formidable on stage. You can catch them playing a handful of shows in March in the UK (some have sold-out already) and they've just been announced to play the main stage at Tramlines Festival this summer too.
