Tom Waits Remasters

  • Published in News

Tom Waits is set to release this year, newly remastered versions of each of his acclaimed albums in the Anti- catalogue.  In addition, the album Real Gone has been fully remixed and individual releases of each of the three discs of Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards will be available early 2018.

Remastering significantly improves the quality of sound files and restores the integrity and intent of the original recording. Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan personally oversaw this process for both the vinyl and digital formats of the catalogue.

”This restoration project could arrogantly be compared to restoring a faded tapestry, a painstaking process that requires meticulous attention to each", Tom Waits explains, "colour faded thread.  Spending months on something completed once, many years ago was necessary though cursedly laborious for us.” The albums roll out beginning November 2017 and continue through December. All albums will be available on 180-gram vinyl.

The first to be released is the Grammy-nominated album Bad As Me (2011). These songs were designed to be lean and mean, with strong hooks and tight running times. From the opening horn-fuelled chug of 'Chicago', to the closing barroom chorale of 'New Year’s Eve', 'Bad As Me' displays the full career range of Waits’ songwriting, from beautiful ballads like 'Last Leaf' to the avant cinematic soundscape of 'Hell Broke Luce' a battlefront dispatch. Waits worked with longtime co-writer and producer Kathleen Brennan, in addition to Waits’ veterans; Keith Richards, Marc Ribot, David Hidalgo, Larry Taylor and Casey Waits. 'Bad As Me' arrives in stores on 16th November.

Jade Jackson Releases Video For ‘Finish Line’

  • Published in News

Jade Jackson was recently featured in Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know” where they described the young singer-songwriter as “a raspy-throated, confident-beyond-her-years songwriter channeling Hank Williams via a somber goth-folk aesthetic.”

In anticipation of her debut album Gilded, produced by Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness and out May 19th, Jackson has released a new video for her song ‘Finish Line’. The intensely personal and beautifully evocative clip, directed by Andrew Van Baal (Mark Lanegan, Eels, Sean Rowe) provides an ideal visual accompaniment for the song.

Gilded is unapologetically country rock, merging the heartbreak and resilience of Lucinda Williams with the melodic confidence of Emmylou Harris, yet containing the emotional presence of a young musician who cherished albums by The Gun Club and The Smiths alongside the works of George Jones and Hank Williams.

Mike Ness says of their collaboration, “I wouldn't have done this record if I didn't believe in her and her potential. The songs were amazing and came to life each week we worked on them. She is an old soul and it comes through in her songwriting and performing. She truly is one of a kind, raw and unique. She put her trust in me and I trusted she'd deliver and she did.”

Jade Jackson is currently touring with Social Distortion in the US.
