The Riptide Movement Play Whelan’s

Having blown the Irish music scene wide open in 2014 with their No.1, gold-selling album Getting Through, a string of Top 10 singles and various sold-out headline tours, The Riptide Movement continue their international rise with upcoming European and Worldwide release of their newest album Ghosts amidst a run of upcoming Irish, European & US dates throughout the rest of the year.

Ghosts is a journey that began somewhere between the Caragh River and the Seefin mountains of Gleinbeigh, Co Kerry, and came to completion in Tornillo, Texas, thirty miles East of the Rio Grande, under the guidance of Grammy award winning producer, Ted Hutt. The result is an emotional listen and the perfect bookend for a concept album that opens up conversations that span the generations. There is an authenticity in everything The Riptide Movement do. It permeates their sound and defines their approach.

This charity event will be the very first show the guys have done in Whelan’s in a very long time and we are delighted that they agreed to support such a good cause. All proceeds for the show will go to Child Vision Ireland. Over 150 years old, Child Vision is the only place in Ireland totally dedicated to the education and therapy needs of blind and multi-disabled children. Fellow busker and Ireland’s golden guitar player NC Lawlor will be the support. NC has taking the international blues scene by storm in recent years and this will be a home coming for him.

Peter And The Test Tube Babies Deported From US

Peter Bywaters, singer of legendary punk rock icons Peter and The Test Tube Babies was refused entry  and then subsequently interrogated on  Friday July 28 at San Francisco airport. Instead of playing the following day at the Punk Invasion Festival in Santa Ana, Orange County, Bywaters was put on a plane back to London. During the course of his six hour interrogation at the hands of CBP ( Customs and Border Protection) officers, he was confronted with photos and videos of himself dressed as President Donald Trump from his last German Tour, Presidential Tour  2016, where Bywaters was particularly  scathing about Trump and US-Politics in general.

His passport and phone were taken, he was finger printed, DNA swabbed , photographed and forced to make a sworn statement before being escorted to his seat on the plane. During the 11 hour flight home he was denied any alcohol. When he asked why, he was told that “It is United Airlines policy to refuse alcohol to deportees on all of our flights”. Back in London Bywaters got his phone and passport back.

Peter And The Test Tube Babies played the festival with the help of guest vocalists; Joey - Narcoleptic Youth, Ron - Lower Class Brats, Gabe - Oi Scouts and Mike - Blank 77. Bywaters states “A US-Tour or festival will never ever happen again!” Peter and The Test Tube Babies new album That Shallot will be released on September 15 via Nuclear Blast imprint label Arising Empire. It's the band's first new album since 2004. On September 1, they will release their new single 'Crap Californian Punk Band'  featuring Lars Frederiksen from Rancid.
